**Location:** Oldham, Lancashire
**Contract Type:** Long Term with possibility of permanent employment
**Hours:** Full Time (Monday to Friday, 8.30 am - 3.30 pm)
Are you passionate about helping young children with educational needs? Do you have experience in working with young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)? Axcis Education is eager to find a devoted Teaching Assistant to join a Year 1 classroom in the caring and vibrant town of Oldham, Lancashire.
### Responsibilities:
- Work one-on-one with a young Year 1 student who has missed early education, focusing on developing foundational skills.
- Deliver speech and language interventions tailored to the child’s individual needs.
- Provide personal care assistance as the student requires, including support with nappies.
- Apply knowledge of the EYFS curriculum to support and enhance the student’s educational experience.
- Manage behaviors such as scratching when the student is frustrated, using effective and appropriate behavior management strategies.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to create a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for learning.
### Requirements:
- Hold a current DBS on the update service.
- Experience working with young people with ASC.
- Patience and understanding in managing challenging behaviors and providing personal care.
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS curriculum.
- Ability to commit to the full-time schedule without compromise.
- Dedication to the welfare and educational development of children.
### Additional Information:
The successful candidate will be working with a young man in Year 1 who requires significant support to catch up on missed education and develop basic skills. Your role is critical in shaping his learning journey. This position demands someone who can commit for the long haul, as the role is intended to last for the duration of the student’s time in the school, with the potential for becoming permanent.
