Are you passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs and ready to make a real difference this November?
An outstanding SEND school in Poole is seeking a resilient, empathetic, and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their highly supportive team. This is a full-time role within a nurturing environment where small class sizes (8–10 pupils) allow staff to provide the personalised care and attention every child deserves.
The school supports pupils with SEMH, ASC and ADHD, and is proud of its inclusive, therapeutic approach that focuses on helping students grow both academically and emotionally. Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups to help them access learning and build confidence.
Implementing behaviour strategies and therapeutic approaches to de-escalate and guide pupils positively.
Building trusted relationships, acting as a calm, consistent and positive role model.
Working with teachers, SENCO and specialist staff to deliver tailored learning interventions.
Adapting resources and approaches to suit a range of abilities and learning styles.
Monitoring progress, celebrating achievements, and providing meaningful feedback to the wider team.
What We’re Looking For:
Someone experienced in working with SEMH pupils, or a psychology/education graduate passionate about this field.
Resilient, patient, and empathetic with strong behaviour management skills.
A team player with excellent communication and a proactive, “can-do” attitude.
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of every child.
Ideally hold a TA qualification .
Why Join This School?
An outstanding SEND provision with a strong, supportive team culture.
Ongoing training and CPD tailored to SEMH and therapeutic approaches.
Small classes and a positive, nurturing environment.
The opportunity to genuinely transform the lives of young people.
Hours: 08:30 – 16:00, Monday to Friday (term time only)
