Job Title: Youth Mental Health Support Worker
Are you ready to make a real difference for young people with autism or learning disabilities? We are hiring a full-time Teaching Assistant (8:30am–3:30pm, 5 days a week) to support Key Stage 3 students in a specialist provision. The role starts ASAP and pays £13.70 per hour.
What the role looks like
• You’ll work one-to-one or in small groups, helping students follow their learning programmes, access lessons and develop social and independence skills.
• You’ll partner with teachers and support staff to shape bespoke learning approaches, adapting activities to individual needs.
• You’ll help build routines, encourage engagement, support communication, manage sensory needs, and offer steady, consistent presence for young people who may struggle with transitions and change.
• You’ll join a specialist facility whose leaders have made “significant improvements” in behaviour management, curriculum tailoring and student support.
Who we’re looking for:
You don’t have to have decades of experience — what matters most is who you are and what you care about. You’d thrive in this role if you:
• Are patient, kind, resilient and emotionally mature
• Believe every young person has value and potential
• Stay calm under pressure and maintain consistency
• Can collaborate, take feedback, reflect and learn
• Want meaningful work — not just a job — supporting vulnerable young people
• Come from a wide range of backgrounds: recent graduates, youth workers, sports coaches, existing support workers or TAs
We’ll provide training, mentoring and guidance to help you grow in the role.
Why this is a distinctive opportunity
This provision is part of a learning environment that is on a journey of rapid improvement. The leadership team has been praised for decisive changes to culture, behaviour systems and curriculum structure. That means you’ll be joining a committed, evolving team where your input and dedication truly matter.
You’ll see first hand the impact you make — helping students engage, grow in confidence, and reach potential they may not have believed in themselves.
